May 22, 2025 | Annie Del Principe | Leave a comment Kingsborough Community College, CUNY MINUTES ESL Program Meeting Wednesday, May 14 3:00-4:30 pm, Zoom Faculty in Attendance: Patricia George-Hunter and Kristine Mariano (Co-Coordinators), Debbie Barolli, Nicole Beveridge, Nicole Colbert, Matthew Guiffré, Gabrielle Kahn, John Keller, Neil Kernis, Sarette Krakowski-Allen, Ryan Lee, Yana Shifrina-Piljovin, and Viktor Zharov Discussion · A review of end-of-semester tasks to be completed between (June 9 – June 19) was explained: o Making grades available to students on Brightspace o Process for submitting final grades on CUNYfirst o Procedure for completing and emailing the Final Grade Record · Reminder to check KBCC email during the semester and the summer months (June 19 – September 9) or have it forwarded to a personal email account. · Faculty were encouraged to attend KCeL Brightspace workshops and to check out KBCC Brightspace Tutorials to become more familiar with the LMS · FT faculty who participated in pre-semester planning should receive compensation in their paychecks. Timesheets will be sent to adjuncts via email. · Gabrielle Kahn will host an informal gathering of LC members on June 3rd. Faculty Presentations · John Keller presented “Digital Stories: An Evolution” and shared methods of implementing group digital stories in ESL102 after students have completed an individual digital story in ESL101. · Nicole Colbert introduced informative articles on AI: Stop Focusing on Plagiarism, Even Though ChatGPT Is Here and California college professors have mixed views on AI in the classroom
