Collaborative Portfolio Assessment Feedback Form

As we discussed at the English Department meeting on 20 May 2025, the CRC would like feedback on the two new proposed CPA models. The descriptions of the two models have been sent to your KCC email address. These are working, living documents and any aspect of them is still subject to change! You can respond to these models through this form:  https://forms.office.com/r/UinWJwMGmP . The form will remain open through June 4, and the CRC will meet on June 10 to discuss the feedback they’ve received and to work on revising further. All are welcome to join on that date, as well. Final Exam Scheduling

A final exam memo has been been sent to your KCC email address. The guidelines for scheduling exams (or using the exam time for a final class meeting) are as follows: The final exam period for the Spring 2025 semester is Tuesday June 10 2025 through Monday June 16 2025. Instructors will schedule their own final exam period using the following guidelines The final exam for in-person and hybrid section(s) will be held on their regularly scheduled days, at their regularly scheduled times, and in their regularly scheduled rooms. The final exam period must be at least half the number of hours the course meets per week. For example, a 3-hour course requires at least a 90-minute final exam period, and a 4-hour course requires at least a 120-minute final exam period. Schedule your final exam period using the regularly scheduled days, times and rooms for your section. For sections with only a lecture component (no laboratory component), schedule your final exam on the first occurring regularly scheduled day during finals week. For example: Tue June 10 2025: A 3-hour lecture course that regularly meets Tu & Th 11:30AM – 1:00PM in D319, should schedule the final exam for Tue June 10 2025 at 11:30AM – 1:00PM in D319; Wed June 11 2025: A 4-hour lecture course that regularly meets Mo & We 11:30AM – 1:40PM in S313, should schedule the final exam for Wed June 11 2025 at 11:30AM – 1:00PM in S313.

CUNY Grading Policies

The CUNY Uniform Grade Glossary and Policies has been sent to your KCC email address. Please review the Grade Glossary; it may answer some questions you could have regarding what different grades mean and what is allowed. Here is a statement sent by Academic Affairs to department chairs: When assigning a course grade, consider the following questions. In particular, note that if the student does not show up to the final exam or submit the final project, you should assign a WU, unless you have a written agreement/email  about an INC.

Did student engage in an academically related activity at least once and then completely stop attending/participating? Assign a WU (withdrew unofficially).

Did student complete the course, including the final exam or final project? Assign a letter grade of A – F. This grade can also be assigned if the student has completed most of the course and documentation of failing course work is available. A WU grade should never be given in place of an ‘F’ grade.

Is student doing passing work but was unable to complete the course requirements and has been in consultation with the faculty member?

·      Meet/email the student to discuss what needs to be completed and set deadline

·      Complete a written agreement/email exchange with student that details the missing work and the grade that will be assigned if the work is not completed

·      Assign a grade of INC (Incomplete).

·       If the student cannot be contacted and no INC agreement is in place, assign a WU. If the student reappears in time to complete the work prior to the INC deadline (10th week of the next 12-week session) the WU grade may be changed.
