Tuesday 9 September was the first day of classes. Verification of Enrollment rosters will be available in CUNYfirst beginning Tuesday 16 September 2025 and must be filed by Thursday 25 September 2025. Classes will not meet on Tuesday 23 September, Wednesday 24 September, Wednesday 1 October, Thursday 2 October, Monday 13 October, Monday 20 October, and Thursday 27 November and Friday 28 November. On Tuesday 21 October 2025, classes will follow the Monday schedule. The last day of classes is 11 December 2025, and the exam period is 13 December – 19 December 2025. All grade rosters are due by Monday 22 December 2025. Fall 2025 Syllabi On the first day of class please email a copy of your syllabus to Madeline Trice for record keeping. These records are kept digitally, so please email a file rather than handing her a hard copy that she will have to scan. Thanks. Ad-Hoc Committee on AI Thursday 18 September 2025 at 3:00 PM (Location TBA) The ad-hoc Committee on AI will meet on Thursday, September 18, at 3:00 p.m. Please join if you are interested. James Pacello will be facilitating and presenting a classroom approach he has been experimenting with to help students become more reflective and critical about the uses of generative AI. James will also share several readings and resources that have recently informed his thinking about this evolving technology and its pedagogical implications for writing classes. Please bring any topics you would like to discuss about AI. We will also discuss other future topic possibilities for our meetings. Literature Committee Meeting Also on Thursday 18 September 2025 at 3:00 PM The Literature Committee will meet on Thursday 18 September 2025 at 3:00-4:30 in C-333 and on Zoom. PSC KCC Chapter Luncheon/Picnic Thursday 11 September 2025 1-2:30 KCC’s PSC-CUNY chapter will celebrate the beginning of the semester with a light lunch/picnic on Thursday 11 September 2025 from 1:00 to 2:30 at the picnic tables right outside the Faculty/Staff Lounge (U112). We’ll be holding our first chapter meeting of the semester on Monday, September 15th at 4:00 PM. English Department Sunshine Fund The English Department invites faculty to contribute to the Sunshine Fund, which pays for gifts for our office staff, acknowledgement of milestone events both sad and happy in faculty and staff members’ lives, and helps supply the department’s parties. The Sunshine Fun contribution this fall is $30 from full time faculty and $15 from part time faculty – cash only, please. You can give the contributions to Enid or Elroy. KCC Fall 2025 Convocation Thursday 25 September 2025 3:00-4:30 in U219 KCC’s Fall 2025 will feature discussion of the college’s 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, including preparing the plan for full implementation, and getting ready to submit a supplemental report to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education after our spring 2025 peer review. Sign Up for Literature and Creative Writing Committees If you are interested in joining our department’s Literature and/or Creative Writing committees, please sign up via this form: https://forms.office.com/r/upFQvF9PAB The form is open now and will continue to accept responses until Friday, September 26th. If you wish to be a voting member of any of our area committees, it’s vital to sign up for the committee during this window of time. All department members are welcome to attend committee meetings whether or not they sign up as members.
