April English Department Meeting: April Fools Day?
The April English Department meeting is now tentatively scheduled for 3:00 to 4:30 PM to celebrate Tuesday 1 April 2025. An official announcement will be made once the room reservation is finalized. Please save the date.
Literature Committee Thursday 13 March 2025 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
The Literature Committee will meet on Thursday 13 March 2025 from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM in C-317 and by Zoom. Zoom information is in the English Department calendar in Outlook. The agenda includes assessment and curriculum updates, program promotion, a reading series with invited authors, and possibilities for a faculty reading series; if you have agenda suggestions, please send them to Rob Cowan at [email protected]
PSC-CUNY Chapter Meeting Thursday 13 March 2025
Please join the KCC chapter of PSC-CUNY for the first meeting of the semester on Thursday, March 13th at 4:00 PM. A Zoom link has been sent to PSC-CUNY members’ email addresses. Ongoing contract implementation will be reviewed at the meeting. Please bring any questions you may have.
Workload and Multiple Position Forms
If you have not already submitted your Workload and Multiple Position forms for Spring 2025, or if the information has changed, please submit them immediately. All forms must be submitted in PDF format. No images or Word documents will be accepted. You can get blank forms, and the handy 16-page guide to filling out the Workload form, here: https://www.kbcc.cuny.edu/aa/forms.html . Be sure to keep a copy of your forms for your records. Good News
The Two-Year College English Association of the National Council for Teachers of English has awarded Cheryl Smith the 2025 Nell Ann Pickett Service Award, for her work on behalf of TYCA and her commitment to excellence in teaching. Congratulations, Cheryl.
Greg Bruno’s baby, Marcello Bruno, was born 1 February 2025. Congratulations, Greg! Greg will return from parental leave in April.

The next newsletter will come out on Monday 17 March 2025. Send items to be included by Friday 14 March 2025 to Jane Weiss at [email protected]. Please keep items brief (preferably 100 or fewer words). Longer items will be abridged. Many faculty members would like to learn more about colleagues’ areas of scholarship, so if you would like to share what you’re working on, the Newsletter will welcome descriptions of your research and recent or upcoming presentations, publications, performances, and creative achievements of all kinds.
